Because not many owners do that sort of mileage.
Or, the sort who do, are happy to break their bikes when they've outlived their natural lives.

IF looked after they will do a lot of miles.

Given choice of 10k or 30k. I would buy the one in the best condition. I have seen some truly horrible dogs with low mileage, and some mint ones that have near been round the clock.

Which is usually about 40k!

It's not worth debating over. I know I have seen sweet f.a 50k+ bikes and have seen a lot dead at below 40k. They are sh*t bikes, electrically and mechanically. But I love them all the same, after all - I've had 6.

Balls! They're fine mechanically, if given a bit of TLC.
What wears out? Engines, nah, depending on use. Frames? Nah. Bearings... yes, but they're cheap.
electrics corrode, aye.

Mine is somewhere around 75k and still fine to rag the nuts out of. It's not had that easy a life either, but it gets serviced almost according to the book. (valves checked more often, due to hot cams... though they don't need it)

TBH I'd do the same again as to buy newer bikes would mean you'd just have to do all the crap that on your own bike would already be done... if you know what I mean... more often.
