Also had pet ferrets as a kid. - Lived in the Kitchen. Wicked ingenious little critters. Used to tag team the cat the horrors.

Edit:

1st one we had was damaged at birth - back legs never worked entirely right - took a while for them to catch up. My brother used to take him to bed when he could get away with it. Animated hot water bottle - or not very animated - that one was always a bit dozy.
