I expect to be tied in to use the stealers by my contract. If this were MY vehicle then I would take it wherever.

I know of someone getting to main dealer service quotes and one was cheaper by over £150 purely because it wasn't in London

I take my bm to a known independent specialist and its half the price of a main dealer. Oil changes are pricey on them though as the oil costs a fortune. Mind you with 150k on the clock it seems to be worth the money.

Ball park figures are £100 oil service, £140 inspection 1, £200 inspection 2
dealers suck

just looked up spec on oil for bmw,5w30 fully synthetic seems to be the norm, that works out at about £15 for 5 litre on ebay, same oil at dealers about £32 a can, from a well known car manufacturer.there isn't any thing that special about the oil for a bmw contrary to what they may tell you

the stuff bmw recommend is castrol motosport tws 10w60 for m series engines £17 a litre
castrol slx ll01 fe 0w30 for valvetronic engines £5 a litre
castrolslx ll04 0w30 not for valvetronic or m models £16 a litre
or you go to a carlube oil from motormania and other shops and get something like 5w30 c3, approved by bmw at £28 for 5 litres
