I've just noticed that there's a tiny hole in the crank case cover, which is leaking small amounts of oil. I might have to wait a couple of weeks until a dealer can fit it in for repair. Is there a temporary fix that I can do in the meantime?

Duct Tape.

If you can't fix it using Duct Tape,

You're not using enough Duct Tape!

I agree, but they are less forgiving in terms of how much you can apply quickly.

Sorry to read about this Ian.. It's been just over a year since I ended with shed loads of titanium in my leg after locking my front at 25mph.. so most important thing I read from your post is that you had come out of it without any damage to yourself!
I won't even try suggesting why your front locked (cause I don't have the best record in that field myself) but contrary to what Red Herring said I believe you do deserve a pat on the back and most sincere wishes that your Tiger gets repaired soon and won't send you too deep into the red..

I am going to suggest chemical metal or rapid steel araldite. The araldite should be good at higher temps although I'm not sure it'll cope with the engine temp but then it is just a cover.

Sorry to hear about your crash.

1) I hope your ok,

2) one of the reasons I didnt buy a Tiger was the front brake it was very very grabby....and i mean really really grabby horrible nasty

might be worth changing the master cylinder...?

Sorry to hear about your off.

I can't answer why you're having more trouble with the Tiger, but it could be worth practicing hard braking on the bike so you can get fully used to how it reacts and where the limits are in a no-pressure situation. The trouble with generally being smooth and anticipating traffic (as you have to riding round London) is that you don't tend to do much hard braking. I found that's my biggest weakness on the track as well
