Default Re: Do you need a pair of Oxford first time panniers?

After I got my refund I called Argos head orifice and after moaning they said that would send me a voucher. Lets see if it comes. I have reserved a set at a different Argos for collection tomorrow. My partner person wants to go there anyway. Before I pay I am going to ask the shop to show the panniers to me. If they are Oxford I will get them, if not I wont.

They are on sale in Ireland too- 30euro, had to reserve them down the country as everywhere in Dublin was sold out... Collecting them tomorrow, they'll probably be the cheapo ones!! Then again, they'll probably just take up space in my shed with the two tank bags in there! Thanks for the link tho

Buy them and if they are the cheap ones go straight to Customer Services and get a full refund. Then phone the Argos head orifice and complain. They should offer you a voucher. Plus it may stop them mis selling.

Ordered my set of Oxford panniers last night for collection. While I was on their site I looked at tents. A lot out of stock so I went for a more expensive one. At the same time I looked at sleeping bags. Mind made up I ordered the panniers, tent and sleeping bag for collection today. Up I went an hour ago with instructions to also get milk and come nans for our friday curry (not from Argos). Used the quick pay in argos and collected the items. The panniers were not Oxford ones. I walked back to the car and put the items in the car. Off to tescos a couple of doors down and got the milk and nan breads. I walked back to Argos and used their machine to look at the panniers, Definitely Oxford First time ones. So back to the car, drop off the milk and nans. Pick up the panniers, tent and sleeping bag and back to Argos Customer Services. Told them the panniers were not the ones in the picture. The back screen (for staff only) says Oxford. The Helpful woman at CS said that the main page didn't say Oxford. I tried to explain that if you viewed a Gucci watch and then on collection you were given a Timex you would not be happy. Unfortunately this analogy was wasted on her. Anyway I told her I wanted a refund for all 3 items and the only reason I ordered the tent and sleeping bag was to make things easier for me (that didn't work, did it!).

If you have ordered these panniers for delivery you may not get Oxford ones. Did anyone get them and were they the right ones and I am not sure what Oxford will think of Argos using an image of their product to sell something else.

And it cost me £2.50 for the bl00dy parking!

Sorry guys.
Yep. Mine arrived today. They look COMPLETELY different to those in the picture. Not impressed at all. I shall be on the blower in a minute.

Very unimpressed.

What's difference between one set of budget panniers and next one?

Ermmm, if you look at your link now, it doesn't show or say anything about Oxford? Maybe someone's had a word in their shell-like

Here's what argos are advertising-

Here's what I got sent

Just a bit different, eh?

I may email Oxford in a moment to advise their image is being used in mis-selling...

Indeed. But the comments at the bottom do.

I've just called their customer service line and tried to get them to replace what I've got with the Oxford packs, without much success. They're using the terms and conditions disclaimer about "if the manufacturer changes specification"- they haven't- Oxford still make these!-"they will send a similar or better product"- actually a lower spec- and "if you're not satisfied, you can get your money back".

Load of crap and the last time I'll be visiting that shop I think.

Think I'll still send them an email, though, once I've been to the shop for a refund. Just waiting for OFT to come back to me to see if I can navigate their T&C's to get what I wanted direct from Argoose. If not, Amazon are doing them for £35 at the moment too.

They promised me a voucher on the phone from Head Orifice. As I said before took these, a tent and sleeping bag for a full refund.

Thedonal - I got the same "talk" about changing the spec but the Pics clearly show Oxford first timers. I was going to email Oxford but their site is so Cr4p I couldn't be bothered. The description may have changed but have a look at the reviews Here They may not be a top quality item but very naughty to show a big, very well known, brand in a picture and then give you something with an unknown name on.
