This is like those rubbish '2p off per litre' vouchers Sainsway's gives you. Even if I completely filled my car's 60 litre tank, that's £1.20, that won't even cover an extra crappy egg and cress sandwich from the shop when I go in to pay.
'Er indoors said the haulage company her dad uses once a week was on the news the other day. A few years ago they had 160 trucks, now they have 35. |

1p won't make any difference whatsoever, it's gone up more than 10-15p a litre since Xmas just on Market increases, everytime I fill up it's gone up.
I paid £1.38 for diesel yesterday, robbing scum ![]() The pj wearing people in the middle east control fuel prices by controlling barrel production, feck all we can about it while they gold plate their entire car collection or diamond stud their pets collars. It's obscene wealth, paid for by us. |

Oh and another thing, why the hell is diesel/ unleaded price gap bigger at some garages than others ?
Some are 2p, others are 8p, diesel is cheaper to produce than unleaded gue to less refinement yet we pay more because the demand for unleaded has decreased. When I passed my driving test in 1989, diesel was 10p a litre cheaper than leaded. |

The whole thing is a joke. The government have pushed and pushed with the fuel duty to the critical point they know the general populace have now reached breaking point and are about to rebel in not before seen volumes so take a penny back off. Whoopee doo. It's still massively expensive but just because a penny has been taken off everyone will calm down a bit again. It's a smoke screen. Give it in out in one hand and take it back twice over in the other.
How long ago was it when everyone was in outrage because it had gone over a £1 a litre? They have managed to creep it up and up very quickly to the point it's nearly half as expensive again. Why don't they put £1 on the price of a packet of fags or £1 on the price of a pint. Get the income back on that? Because people can decide not to buy cigarettes or booze whereas buying fuel is a necessity. Grrr. |

I've heard that some scrappies have taken to selling the fuel from scrapped cars for just over a pound per litre around here.
Just done some dodgy hypothetical math: If I manage to get 400 miles per tank from my car, and I commute 25 miles four times a week in the car, that's 5200 miles a year commuting, or 13 tanks of fuel. 13 tanks is 715 litres (turns out car has 55 litre tank, not 60), so the government has generously put £7.15 back in my wallet this year. *******s. |

For those who don't do too many miles commuting, the costs are not THAT much greater. For the likes of myself who commutes 145 miles each day, it is.
If I rode the bike to work I would use more than a tank full of fuel each day. That equates to well over a hundred pound a week. As it is I drive a battered old Pug 106 diesel which does 55-65 miles to the gallon. Still a lot of money out of my packet gone on fuel though. |

Well as duty is currently over 100% of profits to the producers - I think that 150% is close to the figure, surely rather than dropping a cash value, they should have dropped and implemented a cap on the percentage of duty.
100% would be reasonable, 125% the maximum.

Monday: Morrisons in Nantwich £1.28.9 per litre
Tuesday: Morrisons in Nantwich £1.29.9 per litre. Wednesday 6pm: Morrisons in Nantwich £1.28.9 per litre Many thanks to the Government for the massive saving. It is still costing me over £25 a week to get to work on the bike, so it hasn't made a blind bit of difference
