Oh dear - some of our Year 10's had a go this morning (that's 4th Form or 14/15 year olds to the oldies on here). Backfired a bit

A couple of the 'lively' ones decided to text their Mum's that they thought they were pregnant. Another one overheard the 'pregnant' bit and was worried so told another friend, who knew nothing of the joke. This friend told a trusted teacher (good girl really) but the trouble is, when we, as teachers, hear something like this, we HAVE to pass the information on. Head of Year told and all ready to tell the girls' and Mums about the 'pregnancy', fully believing it to be true. However, if a girl under 16 may be pregnant then she has probably had sex, which amounts to rape, or abuse, so we should really get police and Social Services involved

Trouble is by this time the naughty girls have gone underground afraid they are really in trouble. Then one of their Mum's rings the school, having heard through the grapevine that her daughter is pregnant/has been raped.

All I can say is, I'm glad I'm not a Head of Year and, when I left this afternoon, the truth had been established!
