Another Shoei tried a few helmets over the last few years, Had an HJC for to/from work and found it a bit quieter than the Shoei but not as comfy. Tried a mates AGV for a week but didn't gel with it either. Wind curtain fitted round the bottom of the Shoei dropped noise levels a bit.

I suffer big time with back pain, and if i ride without wrapping up i spend the next few days in agony! Cold killer balaclava down to top of shoulders and kidney belt are a must for me.. thermal liners will still be in come july

hi i have the xr 1000 and its better than my other helmet (i ride pillion alot) as its slimmer it stops my head wobbling as much, also have you thaught about gettin a wap around back support/ or sholder wrap they can help you keep your body straight without you doing all the straining, i have one i use quite often and it does help me(i have a longstanding back injury), but as others have said the bast thing is to take regular breaks and streach your mucels out and as my physio, take the pain killers it reduces pain and helps you keep muscles moving cus its when you stop and they become stiff that the pain worsens.

Riding in bad weather seems to make you deviate from your natural riding position and it is possibly that more than the helmet causing your aches and pains.
I had exactly the same with the bad weather we encountered-----mind you in my case it could just be old age.
