If the caliper sliders are sticking even slightly then it will increase travel at the lever.

If you have a brake pipe clamp try closing of each side and see if there is a noticeable difference. If the position it closer to the caliper then move it to the distributor block makes a big difference ,then its of to the new hoses man.

Meh.

Tried rebleeding the whole lot today after doing some things Jambo mentioned on the phone but alas it's not having it.

I think it's sucking sir in from somewhere. The rhs calliper bleeds as expected but the lhs seems to not push out the amount of fluid it's supposed to, only way I can describe it is it dribbles out as opposed to filling the whole tube on the nipple.

Then it started raining again so I packed up after a quick test ride. Right now its no better or worse than before.

Brakes work...just not as firm as it should be.

How firm do you want the lever to be? As longa s it dont come back to the bar in normal use then i really wouldnt get hung up with the overall firmness of the lever. The SV system if all good, is ok, but ven then it goes a little soft. As Jambo ahs said, your hoses are getting in a bit and a 2 line system isnt that expensive.

I have done 72k on my sv and its only on its second set of discs and i only changed the 1st set because i managed to get another set second hand, chaep. I believe the old ones are on SLloyds SV! HH pads do eat discs a litte more than std pads. No idea how thin my current discs are and they will stay on there until either a) Fail MOT b) give me problems.

If you still have no joy, drop me a line and we can sort out meeting up and sorting it.

try bleeding like this.
1/pump the lever 3 or 4 times.
2/Hold the pressure on.
3/Open the bleed nipple and let the fluid out,
4/Still holding the lever on, lock the nipple up .
re do the same 5 times.

Should be done visually, then measured if needed
