Pretty sure it's the waist. With just a t-shirt on (tucked into trousers), was wet up to chest. Chucked a fleece on (over trousers) and when I stopped next the bit of fleece under the jacket/trousers overlap was absolutely sodden, but I was dry from waist up.

It's your belly that will get wet if your storm flap is leaking, because it's designed to make the water that gets in past your press studs run down the inside of the outer flap, but not let it get through to the zip. If it is only half working, or if the storm flap is not folded properly, it will run down to an extent, keeping your neck and chest dry, but get through to the zip lower down, or it could be completely useless and just leak the whole way up.

It could be getting in at the bottom, maybe you need a tighter fit? Maybe it's just a crap jacket? You'll not get much longer than the jacket you have, but you can get two piece textiles which are completely waterproof, so a one piece oversuit is not the only answer.

Was it Spada kit that Tiger Al had on for that Aviemore run we all did a couple of years ago Col.? I remember at the time being rather impressed at how well his kit had held out against the weather of that run.

Yes, it was Spada kit, and he was the only one to stay dry after 6 hours of Scotlands finest sideways rain! My jacket gave in after 3-4 hours.

Cool, lots of things to try. Just hope it pees it down this weekend

I think he has the same jacket and pants as me, Spada Podium pants and Circuit jacket, top kit. Previous Spada jacket still serviceable and rain proof even after an off.

Seems Spada is the way to go. As my kit was 2nd hand, perhaps I'll treat myself over the winter to some new kit
