i know everyone wants to know their MPG but i find, with the way fuel prices are soaring, i try to work out my average £ to miles. at my last fill up, i had done 142 miles, had a steady fuel light and filled up £19.24, which I roughly guesstimate to be about 12/13p per mile. it actually helps me decide wether to get coach/train for long distances.

How boring. Ride the SV the way it's meant to be and not spend half your life with a calculator worrying about an extra 2mpg.

I was happy when I eeked 35 mpg out of the cage the other day on a long run whilst half falling asleep (but under the limit ) That easily drops to low twenties when having fun.

If you want really good economy buy a scooter or a 250 and ride at 47mph. Top fun.

That is actually how the XJ900 was meant to be ridden

Less money on petrol = more money to do other stuff, makes sense to me... though I do go faster than 47mph!

Has anyone seen much difference in mpg with after market exhausts? I fitted a slip-on and it seems to have destroyed mine although it could also be down to a change in riding style.....
