I believe that there adapters (including hdmi) that plug into the dock connector. I suppose that if you were using it to drive an HDTV, then you might want to put HD video onto it, but that's not a particularly good use for an iPad.

I always assumed they'd have a hdmi out on the actual unit. Is that so you buy the dock or is that not an attractive feature for the rest of the world?

Apple's strategy, like it or not, is to have a single connector which everything else plugs in to. This connector is the same on the iPad, iPhone and iPod, though they don't all support the same features.

I suppose that it's easier for them to just have a single connector, but it does mean that you have to buy different adapters for hdmi, sd cards etc.

I know you don't need it if you know what your doing but come on every on has a smart phone these days and most of the users aren't very technical minded and android apps are full of crap.
Over on reghardware or another blogging tech site some time over the past month they had the stats on the sypare/virus apps on android apps and it was shocking.

oh and by the way that isn't protection against rouge applications that are available on the marketplace.
99.999999% of the virus's it will detect if any on mail attachments/dropbox files will be unable to deploy on iOS anyhow.

apps for the ipad take up a lot more space than on an iphone,
if i was going to get one which i am .... when i have the cash... i will go min 32gb. saving up for 64gb otherwise you will be for ever trashing apps and deleting data to put stuff on.
