We never did huge christmas things growing up, its a small family very widely spread over the country so we're just not that close (in all senses of the word lol). So naturally hearing all stories of what the other kids got upto used to make me resent it a bit.
Later on that paved for it been seen as a 2 week holiday where been smashed/hungover was forgivable so for a few of my early adult years I loved it.
Now Im a daddy have a baby Im going to do my best to make it a magical time for him to get really exceited about each year even if it means scraping together to make that happen. Annoyingly my side of our family is now even wider spread but the wifes side are christmas fanatics.

Yep it's crap !!

Im forced to speak to people on the phone to thank them and I can't be bothered.

As others have said the consumerism is ruining it for me, it might as well be named present giving day now.

Only consolation is I've had the closer to the edge and senna DVDs and adventure bike rider mag subscription so that will take the edge off my misery
