For you dear Geo.

Knocked up a stereo 2 into 1 with some electrical tape the morning of AR11 so i could listen to some tunes (quietly) while the sat nav pointed me to you lot

Tidy big ta your fruitness Think i will have a go at this with an old tomtom as they used to have an earphone socket on the first tomtom one v1 until they realised they could extort more money out of bikers if they removed the jack plug!

So just solder jack to the speaker and thats it?

Yep. Did it that way for ease. I can still use it in the car (speaker still works). I could have put some switching inline but took the simple option.

Bang tidy sir. I lack the ways of the 'electronical arts' and have been trying for a good while to come up with a way of getting the sound from the satnav to my ears without huge expense and this could be it

2 into 1 wotsit thingy?

Garmin Zumo 550 with a Scala Rider FM headset. I can hear directions through earphones at 100mph. My phone also pairs with the Garmin so I can make and receive calls on the move by dialling up on the Garmin screen from the phone book. This setup also gives me loads of mp3 storage so I can listen to choons as well.

TomTom Rider, can't fault it, but then it's designed for the purpose and I paid the money, so that's what you'd expect.

Tom Tom Rider V3 and a Scala Rider FM headset, works very well on bike not sure about hearing it at 100mph though haven't been abroad on bike. Just got the car adaptor not as well built as Ram but as long as I am not too ham fisted then it will be fine. Volume is a tad on the low side in car but enough to hear.

I struggled to hear my Garmin in the car for 18 months, then discovered a second volume control which was set to about 25%. Whacked that up to full and it's now perfect.

Just switched it on and checked settings, I've done just under 85,000 miles with it in under 3 years, most of them on business in various cars and vans but about 10,000 on the bike.
