The Merlin sounds a bit ordinary when broadcast on tv.The only way to listen to it is live.
Great program,and Im not normally a huge fan of Mr Mcgregor.

I think I may have mentioned this one before but I was in the Air force in the 80's and was in the MT yard one morning when I heard the unmistakeable sound of merlin engines approaching, as if by magic people started to appear for everywhere to see what was approaching, just before they came into view I asked the question 'whats that ?' a sgt who was stood behind me put his hand on my shoulder and said quietly ' that son, is the sound of freedom' just after that the BBMF hove into view, quite a moment, don't think the tornado or typhoon will have the same affect on people
