preachy and alive suits me better than the alternative, perhaps having seen to many years in the saddle and far to many mates find out the hard way, this whole thread I was thinking "he's lucky", points or fines are much better that what could have been the out come, someone had to point out the obvious.

Cheers Mark.

So I don't think your equation applies to all speed cameras.
Thats to be considered for the speed course.
Not what cameras trip at.
In Essex if your going 33 in a 30 your in trouble.
The speed your showing on your clock is likely to be faster.
Argue with the man the laser and your in deeper water .
Each force will be on the national guide lines or a bit higher.

Ah misunderstood, sorry. So I wasn't man enough to be considered for the speed course. That makes more sense.

Although having very quickly googled it, I can only find this reference to those figures:

Quote:
The initiative is aimed at those caught speeding just above the limit and will only be open to people caught breaking the speed limit by 10% + 9mph or less.
Other sites say between 35-39mph in a 30 limit.

There seems to be a lot of confusion over it.

Go to your local imi group and chat to an ob' who is in traffic .
If they ok they will give you the heads up on what your be getting .
Don't expect a sympathetic response though.
Best stick to 30 ,40 and don't get in the situation again.
Plenty of unrestricted roads to have fun on.
Round hear allot if you can beat 60 and not crash your doing fine.
30 & 40 are there for good reason.
Exceed a 20 mph limits will get you hung out to dry .And you'd deserve it.

A general rule of thumb is 10% +1 mph, so 45 in a 40, I believe these are police guidelines. A complete tw*t of a copper could try and shaft you for less but it could be argued in court over speedo error, hence the guidelines exist.

I got the awareness course for 97.8 in a 70. At one point I was doing well over a ton with the unmarked BMW behind me, whilst I was undertaking (car was on an empty road, in the right hand lane of 3, I was in the left lane!).

Copper actually commented on my vision, shoulder checks and general riding and was suprised I hadn't seen him. My answer was my mirrors were shaking so I could only make out objects, not see what vehicle they were. All-in-all, it was a hoofing let off in my book, only helped by the fact I had been going so slow when they first clocked me pulling an undertake on a que of traffic!

What a effin bore that course is though! With the price of the course, the fuel to get there and back and the loss of a days holiday, I wish I'd taken the points! LOL

Regards
