I doubt any of them know much about the change in rules on the 19th January... I looked at the .gov website the other week and it's so confusing! But I think I have the gist of it

Having passed my test 2 years ago now i'm able to take my restrictor off but I'm not up for paying £100 - £150 right now, especially over the winter and with Christmas around the corner. I could probably take it off my self but I don't have a garage at home.

A couple of the coppers off here guided him through the processes, concluded they'd seized the bike illegally, and helped him come to a compromise, gimme my bike back, forget about the 1bhp and pay for the damage, and I'll drop the complaint against you for seizing it illegally then setting it on fire. He was without his bike for about a week, his only mode if transport so got him into trouble at work (I seem to remember he actually lost his job in the end, but I cant remember), and he was stressed as hell about the potential for six points and having to redo his test!

Dont be so confident that you could sort it at the roadside. Come across like you know more than them you'll fail the attitude test and they'll dig their heels in.

Is it restricted with an ECU, or washers?

Should take no more than 30 mins or so to remove the washers and about 5 mins for the ECU

I also read that thread all 50 odd pages.
He did loose his job and as a result he had to sell his sv to.
Poor sod and all because they thought he accelerated to fast for a restricted bike.
He never said if they pressed charges or not he was waiting to find out.

Had a few PM's after the event, they didn't press charges. They'd never win in court IMO, he'd taken all reasonable measures to make sure it was legal, and he was 1 bhp over which might have been different if you'd stuck it on a different dyno. You'd have to be a pretty unreasonable rrrssss of a magistrate to book him for it, and I reckon the CPS would back out anyway as they'd have less than a 50% chance of a successful prosecution..

Can you explain the 140 mph max bit? Is that some sort of theoretical estimation? A standard SV wont go that fast
