I agree. I put a personalised plate on mine the day i did it at the DVLA office then my chain snapped and police were like' errr sir this plate is on a Volvo V70 not a bike....' couple of mins of awkward explanation later, they left.

To confirm. Yes, transfer it into your name. Usually the transfer fee of 80 is included in the retention document. It will say on it. All has to be done at your.local dvla office. I done mine from my bike onto my car.

I asked my car insurance company and they're charging me £15 to change the details but Carole Nash want £35.

Summat not right there.

I may wait until May and change the reg number over just as my insurance comes up for renewal. That way I won't be charged the 35 quid change fee by CN. I don't like being turned over and can wait.

Look what just came up on ebay: Tommy H plate

Good job I'm not prepared to pay that much otherwise my car would be looking very chavvy...

Some of these plates are ridiculous! I just found 8 OLD for 90,000 ... yes, NINTY THOUSAND POUNDS!
