A lad that lives near me has a quad, much cheaper insurance than a car but can use the same licences. I would imagine that if the price of car insurance is a problem, insuring a 150 BHP, 1 litre quad would also be prove to be too expensive for the young driver crowd.
If there was somewhere to play about with one off road, i'd have a blast, but would rather have a dirt bike for that. |

i have a Yamaha Raptor
a superbike powered quad would scare the crap out of me on the road quads are not stable under hard acceleration or braking and an accident waiting to happen they are designed as low speed off road vehicles |

They look fun but im with the others on this, id prefer one off road. Maybe one of those big honda 4x4 things, then i could try my best to get it stuck lol. Theyre too expensive for me at the moment though.
Iv seen road quads with widened wheel base etc but how are they really in a corner? Id imagine them easy to flip. I think id defo crash a normal one, nevermind an r1 turbo engine. Id consider myself too inexperienced for that engine in a road bike, nevermind a quad. Ill pass thanks lol |

also if you are a motorcyclist and you counter steer instinctively, your going to go in the opposite direction to what you thought

The one I tried (non-turbo R1) felt very stable and confidence-inspiring. Certainly way less intimidating to ride than litre bikes I've tried - cornered surprisingly well too, and you're not going to instinctively counter-steer any more than you would driving a car.
Don't forget - with these the frame, brakes and suspension are re-worked to accomodate the power, it's not just a case of drop a 1000cc engine in and hope for the best. He's actually putting a turbo on an R1-engined one at the moment - it's for a past customer who's had it a while and wants more power! It's the quad on the website which was featured in Streetfighters Mag. |

very common complaint from motorbike riders when getting on a quad
when you get into a sticky situation with a set of handlebars in your hand muscle memory takes over Last edited by Fordward; 07-03-13 at 01:38 PM. |
