Having just read through an online news report, this, and seen the ITV news, I'm sat here with a heavy sick feeling in my stomach. Through all the speculation, social media hype, and lots of ideas about how to sort these types of people out the fact remains that a regular bloke, with family and friends like any one of us, was walking along the street and had his life taken away from him in a most horrific way. He was probably thinking about any number of things that he was going to be doing tonight, what his tea would be, which pub he would be going to, if he would be booking a holiday this summer with mates. He's then on the floor having been run down. I hope he was unaware of the following assault and the fatal injuries that were inflicted upon him. For ever more his family and friends will live with the knowledge that a loved one was taken from them in such a way. And the witnesses in the street will have those images to bare for a long time to come. There will be the extreem groups that will gather and fight for the cause, and a real risk of a riot situation could develop quickly.
I sit here feeling sick that this has happened, having seen the way the blokes acted after such an horrific act, thinking that it could happen again, in any area, at any time. I'm not a pessimistic man, I see a lot of good in things every day but I wonder what my 4 and 5 year old will grow up seeing/hearing/reading about as a matter of daily life. |

There are certain times when I feel the death penalty is the only appropriate response.
Public guillotining sounds about right in this case or perhaps bayoneted to death by a group of soldiers. These barstewards deserve to suffer IMHO. ![]()

The woman who got off a bus to help the victim showed great bravery. She put her life at risk to help a stranger.
Many years ago a young Muslim lad was attacked by a group of white thugs in South London at a tube station. I piled in to help him and got a good thump from a broom handle in the process. I just didn't want to see that kid get killed. It didn't matter he was Muslim. Sadly extremists on both sides have made us all suspicious of each other and these crazies are just using religion as an excuse. I'm sure most Muslims in this country were as horrified as the rest of us by this terrible event.

I agree with you LPH, they are using religion as a means to justify their actions which is disgusting.
I hope that they get dealt with accordingly! |

Poor poor bloke. Thoughts to his family and friends, must have been a horrid way to go.
These guys obviously seem like a pair of loony toons. Surely any 'sane terrorist' (if there is such a thing) would try and evade capture in order to carry out his/her goal to maximum effect until brought down. This leads me to a question I have been thinking about. What exactly is todays definition of terrorism and what constitutes a terrorist? I used to think I had a rough idea, but now if you're some insane local estate thug who shouts Allah whilst butchering someone you are branded as one. It also seems to make the government think about changing the terror alert status. In all honesty, I believe it is what the government and media feel like labelling as terrorism themselves. In any event, what an unlucky chap. Death penalty would be too easy for these guys. |

I don't think I've ever been quite as shocked at what I've seen on news/read online as whats happened here. On a day I was already hurting to see the vid posted by Si where chants of "UK police burn in hell" are been chanted during a protest.
Firstly I feel so sorry for that poor poor poor man, to be hit by a car is bad enough to, to be stabbed is bad enough, to be dragged about while you're in agony is bad enough and to be beheaded whilst alive is about the worst thing I can imagine but combine all of those and my brain cant process that horror. No punishment these barbaric cretins receive will be justice for that poor man. I hope they're locked up in gen pop of a prison full of complete nutcases, it wont take long for them to be recognized and i like to think the guards who work there will turn a blind eye to any acts performed. What I find most disturbing of all, the guys accent. He talks "you, us" etc etc but his accent tells me he is an "us" a homeland hooligan planting psychotic seeds in the minds of the impressionable, what ever happens to them needs to happen quick and publicly. By all means lets build a large enclosed space and leave them all in there in a last man standing free for all, I'd actively encourage that provided the last man standing was also gunned down by police guards as opposed to been allowed back into society. |

Question for you military types:
This took place outside a barracks, what would have been the implications had those persons in the barracks come out to assist and taken down the attackers? I'm assuming a barracks would not have firearms within easy reach, do barracks even have guard houses? |

This is a most tragic affair. I cannot imagine what the poor mans friends and family are going through.
It's bad enough what this and other countries service men and women have to do and see when deployed only to return home and be treated like crap especially if injured. Was he targeted because he was wearing a help for heroes t shirt? I certainly hope not, this charity is, in my opinion one of the very very few worth while charities. They do good work for our troops that badly need it. The fact that this happened in such proximity to a barracks is even worse, I cannot imagine what all his brothers in arms are feeling knowing this effectively happened on their door step. The pain and sorrow they and his family must be experiencing saddens me in a way I find difficult to comprehend. Death penalty is too easy for the perpertrators, it's an easy out, sticking around just ensured that they got their "cause" some attention.
