You cant train cats like dogs, and it would be cruel to make it a house cat now it has had a taste of the outdoors. The dogs should fight back!

My issue isn't with cats so much as the attitude of the owners. No, I don't like that they kill so much wildlife, or go where they want. Of course they will if they are allowed, but so will dogs. The issue is the attitude of, "if y don't want my cat in your house, you need to do x, y or z to stop it". Actually, no...the owners need to be responsible and stop it from from happening. I was with a very good friend last year when she had to pick her dead cat up off the side of the road and I wouldn't wish that on anyone. She always said before that you can't stop cats roaming, but aft losing her baby...she has stopped the other one. It doesn't go out when it wants anymore. She filled in the catflap and even running a nursery from her home, all the staff have managed to stick to not letting the cat out. She has made an escape proof area in a very big garden and the cat goes in there. Either that or it could end up dead like the other one and so yes, you can stop cats going into other peoples houses if you really want to. Does that mean I think all cats should be confined? No. I just don't like the attitude of the owners who don't want to do anything to stop their pets being a nuisance. Cats or dogs or any other animals for that matter...but it seems more commonly accepted with cats. |

I managed to turn my cat into a house cat without too many problems, she was very old though and since having a stroke went completely deaf, when we moved to a house on a main road with a hedge around the garden she could easily climb through we only let her out on supervised walks.
For a younger cat though it would be much harder not impossible though as most cats prefer sleeping to exploring.

Very few dogs will actually go for a cat though. I am quite pleased about that...I don't like the idea of cats getting attacked any more than dogs getting attacked.

Mine will certainly go at a cat... Even though it is quietly discouraged (if I am there I'll stop him) due to the potential for injuries, Jack sometimes cannot help doing what small hunting breeds do. It's not a problem at home where all of the cats are feral, but he hasn't grasped the idea that when we're in town he really shouldn't be tearing the neighbours cats into small pieces and spreading them all over the yard. It is a quick kill and the carnage comes later. There is always such a look of joy on the little monsters blood soaked face that I cant growl at him for it after the fact.
My GF likes birds in her garden so between the traps and the few that Jack gets it is a cat free zone. I wouldn't put up with either this silly woman or her nuisance cat... |

Personally I would just wire my house with C4 and blow the whole thing up, but then again I do have a good insurance policy, and I really don't like cats.
