Jeez the acceleration just going up smooth through the gears takes me from 40 mph to Motorway intro/overtaking speeds and above in no time and I barely need to break 6,000/7,000 Rpm in any gear. Then just sit there @ 70 Mph around 5,000 Rpm in sixth.Joy
A 600 / 650cc four-cylinder bike will usually be revving higher than the SV at a given road speed as they have shorter gearing, so they're arguably working harder than an SV!

As you point out, how many of us actually get near the redline on anything like a regular basis in any case ... a true 7,000rpm in 4th on a K6 S with standard sprockets is 70mph, in 5th is 85mph, and in 6th is 94mph, so it becomes a question of how many points you want on your license in one go

I did 240 miles last Sunday. No Tinglies, fatigue or numb bum.I suppose one advantage of the stock exhaust is also no,"Ear Ache"

I got off the bike in the evening as if I had just got on it in the morning except with that lovely tiredness glow of a great days riding

I've got a gel seat on mine which has helped a lot, but my backside is in a coma after 100 miles or so

Several years ago I had an Industrial accident.I nearly had to give up riding because of a damaged shoulder.Had Physio but it didn't do much.It was the the 3 Corticosteroid injections that worked.

Last year I was determined to improve even more so bought a home exerciser thingy(Wondercore).

Exercising everyday I've built up the power and strength in my shoulder and all other limbs and dropped from over 13 stone to 12 stones and it's straightened my spine.

My point is that with a firmer body I don't seem to have any comfort issues on the bike and of course more power and or better mileage.I've been getting around 58 Mpg even with spirited riding.

However one thing I did notice before I put the bike on the road was that one time I fitted the rider seat wrong and when I sat on the bike it pushed my nads into the tank.
I noticed that there was a large gap between the rear of the pilot seat and the fairing.
I have to push down hard to get the seat lugs to correctly go under the restraining bars. When I got it right the seat lay flatter and no nad crush and better seat position.

I mention this just in case the seat has been off and not fitted correctly. It can be fitted securely but wrong

I know most people will not have done this but I thought it worth a mention just in case.

LOL! I meant MPH not miles! If you did too, I need to know how to make mine go 240...

It's surprisingly quick to get into 3 figures on an SV, not condoning it but I've found myself in the 120s coming back from rides to Rhayader to Kington. In my defense they are quite quiet rural roads

I've been quite sedate on my curvy travelling along rural roads at 50,60 mph the last two months and then this week I appear to not to give a f**k and have found myself travelling at near to and just over the ton on the same roads . And I love it. Another thing I've found is that I really can't stand corsas and all that crap try to bully me so it's pushed my speed up, I know it shouldn't, but I've punished a few this week. Don't f**k with me and my bike chavs.

Probably, in fact definitely not advisable but inevitable that we give it some at times otherwise why have a bike? But don't get carried away, just be safe in the knowledge that you can leave them for dead should you so wish

Agreed. It just seems like every other two-bit hothatch has a minimum of 200 hp these days and I can't see to help myself when they're two feet behind me and every frontal light illuminated. I do show restraint though as I know the road I commute on so well that it's inevitable they'll come unstuck behind a tractor after they overtake me. And then I nonchalantly pass them when the time's right as only a biker can.
