One thing IÂ’ve noticed on the fuel pump is thereÂ’s a rubber teat on the fuel pump that sits inside the tank (does that make sense? I can post a photo of it doesnÂ’t) and it appears to have perished. Do I need to replace the pump or is it ok?
The fuel pump is well away from the tank. It's either the petcock or the fuel level gauge you're thinking about. I can't think of any teats, though ... can you identify it on here?

(I had to tinyurl it as the site censored c*ck in the URL! )

Yep, you’re absolutely right, it’s the petcock, sorry, I’m a complete newbie at this....

In most images I’ve found it’s originally a white plastic or rubber tube that inserts into the tank. Mine is discoloured and perished. I’ll see if I can load a pic but don’t seem to be able to at the moment. The structure of the tube is still there if that makes sense but the casing seems to have perished

The white bit is the fuel filter. I don't think it being discoloured is a problem, but if it's torn it would be worth changing. I don't think you can get an OEM part but someone will be along shortly to let you know that there are other compatible parts.
