I am the owner of the nakid version. I have aftermarket handlebars that drop the riding position a bit. Basically if you get a nakid version you can buy handlebars to suit riding style. As for commuting, I commute about 150 miles a day, mostly motorway. I don't have any problems with wind. I am sure if you buy a fly screen to fit you will find that would be more than adequate to give you wind protection. I always have my oxford tank bag on my tank and that deflects enough wind for it not to bother me at all. (I don't hang around either ).

The nakid version also has more "grunt" pulling away due to the extra tooth and different gearing, just what you need when "filtering" on the motorway or in town. Nakid's wheelie better too. Oh and they look better.

I'm not giving you a biased opinion (honest) as I have owned both a faired and a nakid bike. Just saying why I prefere the nakid version. At the end of the day it's your choice. Either way you are on to a winner by choosing an SV in the first place. Best of luck and happy riding, what ever you choose.

What I mean is, some nakeds look like they were designed naked- Speed Triple, Bandit, Z750, GSX1300. Others look like they've just had the fairing pulled off- and I reckon the Sv comes into this heading. See what I mean?

I do - and I fully agree!!

However, I don't think the SV looks that bad in it's naked guise!
I even think I prefer the naked mark 1 bike but prefer the S K3!!

For what my opinion is worth (not alot as i dont have a bike atm) but i think nekked is good, I agree with Northwind but in the opposite way the sv does look right in the nekked version, imho the sv looks unfinished in the bikini fairing but the nekked looks damned good. The k3 and after look better than the previous bikes and WHEN i get another bike I shall be buying nekked Speed Triple maybe, not necessarily an SV although the sv1000 nekked looks nice (a chap down the road has one with aftermarket cans) sounds like a bloody great big V8.... Anyway nekked is good and sv nekked is very good...

Oh aye, sorry, I should've said i reckon the S looks like there's a bit dropped off the front as standard... They all need lowers or a chin fairing to tie it together, IMHO. Currently mine has neither and looks a bit shoddy, but with the bellypan it looked ace.

poor mr cass, looking to us for a bit of advice...and ends up getting the usual debate... "should it be the s" or "should it be nakiid"
i think we all agree that whichever he chooses he's onto a winner..surely theres nothing on the market to match what you get for £4000.assuming its new
