Guys n girls I've done it! 6 hours later and the bike has a GSXR shock and a nice gold rear caliper.
Focusing on the shock, this is the best £16 mod I'll ever make on the bike. It has transformed it! Now I know exactly what is meant by: 1. damping 2. being planted. The GSXR shock soaks up bump with ease and feels so _much_ firmer when going around corners. The extra inch rise makes the steering non-sluggish. The handling is totally, utterly, amazing compared before. I didn't expect so much difference, but there you have it. You'll notice straight away when you hit something and the bike doesn't bounce and land in a different place (so called being planted). Confidence wise I feel I could, given the right conditions, begin getting my knee down! As for setup, the original GSXR setup with original GSXR spring will work great for someone about my weight (11.5 stone). Anything above and I'd up the preload as the spring is soft. For installation, the one thing requiring cutting in the tank bracket to battery bit. All bolts and bits will fit without problem. The battery is a snug fit but again doesn't pose an issue. You will need to remove tank, fairing and undertray to fit. Don't think - just do it! ![]() |

Glad you like it. Have you done the front as well?
That'll make even more difference. |

Yes I've the front done and the bikes really sorted now. Both complement each other. Both need doing.
Although the front used to dive fixing it did not solve the bikes tendency to bounce. The rear IMHO makes a much larger difference to the way in which the bike handles. |
