For me this was a large part of the reason I really enjoyed it. Though Tom Baker was 'my' Doctor, I remember Pertwee with a kind of blurred fondness as 'my first'. Both had a similar vein of humour and self-abuse, and both had to deal with men in rubbery suits, tinfoil (Cybermen were scary) and old fashioned bins with sink plungers for weapons that couldn't convincingly climb stairs!

I was glad they didn't try to compete for the attention of 'modern youth' by emulating some sci-fi digital FX-fest, and stuck to being a great family show. Jokingly awful for the adults and sofa-hidingly scary-but-fun for the younger kids.
Hey, it was the first programme I and my brother were 'allowed' to stay up specially to watch with our Dad.

I got the feeling there were hints of a more involving plotline - something a little more ongoing, background historic stuff for the adults, which could be interesting. But I'll still watch it with a child's eyes and mind - for ****s and giggles. :P

always had a soft spot for Dr Who... even with Sylvester McCoy. And always had an even bigger soft spot for young Billie. So I was in heaven

just the right amount of tongue in cheek, self deprocating humour to make it enjoyable. wasnt glued to it as was getting ready to party, but shall watch it next week, to see how it all pans out.

they've been able to do that for years, keep up! Can't remember which doctor it was but the episodes had Mr Bronson from Grange Hill in them.

MYTHS

This story reveals for the first time that the Daleks are capable of ascending stairs. (Although this is the first time that a Dalek is actually seen to ascend a flight of stairs, there is a scene in season two's The Chase: Journey into Terror in which such an occurrence is clearly implied; and season twenty-two's Revelation of the Daleks shows that both the Daleks and Davros are capable of hovering above the ground.)
