Hi Jezza.
I think half the reason the Brits spend so much time and money modding their bikes is because of being forced to endure endless winter months of no riding, All they can do is polish and mod.
I couldn't imagine not riding all year round

Touchy bunch those Poms, aren't they Graham?
The weather is ****e a lot of the time though so it's not really a generalisation of the people IMO.

In Switzerland where i lived for 19 years long winters made me addicted to Bike magazines cause it was too cold for riding. Call me a poof, but i just don't enjoy riding with thick gloves and still freezing my digits off.
It's weird coming here and preferring the cooler days for riding. It's like summer is the 'off season'.

NW, i see what you're saying. I don't find the Sportecs give me 'irrelevant' information. They just tell me 'GRIP, GRIP, GRIP' (and yes, i do know what's underneath them but it doesn't bother me at all) whereas the BT020s made the bike unsettled over bumps and gave hardly any feedback at all. Until they let go at which point the bars go 'light', no matter what kind of tyre you've got on it.

Never tried the 020s myself...

As for not riding in winter, up til I broke my hip my bike had never gone for more than a day without being ridden, or done less than 6 days out of 7, unless I was away or ill. Though I understand why people wouldn't want to My morning commute got to be something like"wet, wet, ICE!, wet, MUD!wet, GRAVEL! wet, ICE! wet...". It's a pretty strange state of affairs when you think of a stretch of road that's merely soaking wet as a fast stretch

But even so, there's plenty that ride in worse than we do here- speak to Randy O about it sometime!
