Did I say it was the best way? Nope... just the quickest

I agree with northy, but i also agree that you should definetly be wearing "yer feckin leathers" at the time *nods*

On a sort of related note, namely decking the pegs, rather than getting your knee down, I'd be interested to see roughly how many people decked the pegs the first time intentionally/expecting it to and how many were suprised by it?

I've just about got the hang of forcing myself to ease off the brakes sooner and just go into the corner at greater speed and lean it over further than usual, if I leave my braking a bit late. I've realised that provided the tyres are warm etc. this is a lot safer than begining to lean it whilst still braking gently (which I do regularly, and despite doing it gently have locked the front up twice, so it has put be off a bit).

However, as these tend to be panic/danger situations, I don't want to be caught off guard when I invariably (at some point) deck the pegs for the first time. So, will it be noisy/shocking? Will it disrupt the bike's line etc? I've dragged my toes before and that was a suprise, but nothing too bad.
Should I do a track day (bearing in mind I would have to buy leathers as I currently use textiles) just so I can deck my pegs in a safe environment?

My chicken strips aren't as small as I first thought (they looked smaller when I was running them in, but now I can see there's a good 6/7mm at the back and 5/6 at the front). I'm running Z6s on a K4s, am I still miles away from actually dragging the pegs (I know it always feels like you're leaned over more than you actually are).

Thanks in advance.

Getting pegs down.. Hmm.

I did it on my old SV, the hero blob on my right foot peg was completely gone.

It looked good, and was a great story down the pub - my mates couldnt beleive id had it over so far.

All was well until i came to flog the bike.. the potential buyer started asking questions about it.... where was it etc????

So i just told him that i rode police style - didnt hang off and that the pegs were gradually ground down - he bought it until he saw the leathers in the garage - knee sliders all scuffed too... hmmm... so if i dont hang off, and get knee AND peg down - must be riding the bike hard.

Thankfully he was still happy and bought it off me.

But it does cause some extra problems when it comes to selling up... before you go dragging your hero blobs - i'd question if its really worth the added hastle...

It is quite noisy decking the pegs. It might surprise you, but not if you're expecting it.

Also, bare in mind, that hanging off the bike will make it harder to get the pegs down/wear down chicken strips.

I know, I've not got knee sliders so I don't try to get my knee down If I see gravel/mud whatever on the road that makes the idea of leaning it over scary, I tend to corner by hanging off, but I don't put my knee anywhere near touching down.

I've seen people in textiles with knee-scuffs and I'd rather keep the waterproof qualities
