I think rather than the Z1 which was truly awesome in it's day. The Honda 750-4 was the real envelope pusher and was really the daddy of so many bikes on the road today. Without the Honda, kawasaki would not have had something to improve on and might have come out with a complete bag of sh*te.

Honda Fireblade....

Brought a new revolution of poise, handling and power to the masses, and up until the RR2/RR3 series was recognised as the most real worrld, paractical sports bike on the road, or as I have seen quoted in a couple of reviews "The thinking mans sports bike".

Gets my vote...

I can understand why the Honda cub won.

I can also see why the iconic Bonnie (parallel twin), HD knuckle-head (45degree V-twin), 916 (90degree V-twin Sports) and CB750 (IL4) were in there.

But the BMW boxer twin should have been in there instead of the Y2K - it's been around for ages, and on any basis of selection used for the other bikes, it should have been in the list - if only to represent shaft drive.

Jay Leno couldn't stop grinning _ i can understand why, his 'garage' is just brilliant !

Maybe that should say "Internal Combustion Engine" as it is possible that a Diesel powered bike could come into production. They're quiter, cleaner and a lot more efficient that the ones of old. But are they still as heavy ?

I think that Y2K jet bike is diesel powered, isn't it? There's also some firm making a busa/blackbird/ZX-12 equivalent at the moment (read about it a while back, a bit down on power/heavy, but meant to be getting competative).

Pretty much any hydrocarbon based fuel will work, they're not fussy.
