i think the main benefit of lighter wheels would be on cornering.

the gyroscopic effect of wheels spinning at 100 mph is tremendous.

you would probably notice if you did track days where you have to throw the bike through chicanes fast.

personally i am sure i would feel absolutely no difference.... ive still got an inch of untouched tread either side of my tyres........

Got to echo a previous comment, the best weight saving you could adapt would be for the rider to lose a few kilos. Just look at the Moto GP boys for proof? Do you see any lard a*ses among them? NO! I have the Marchesini,(they are in grey but I am seriously considering getting them gold anodised!) but have to admit to being a gram or two over my best fighting weight.
