Hope you feel better soon - a broken shoulder blade is painful so hope the pain relief is under control. Also hope insurance gets sorted out without too much hassle...
If a passneger opens a door when you're filtering then it isn't necesari;ly going to make much differnce what speed you're going because depending on precise position of thre bike there's going to be a collision. in this instance she can'yt possibly have looked. My undertsnading (not sure form where) was that 20 MPH in excess of traffic speeds was okay but 20 MPH when things are stationary feels very slow.. |

I doubt she'll do that again in a hurry. Plus in YOUR defense I filter at 20 - 30 mph all the time its not uncommon is it

Firstly, really glad you are ok!
I would say you were going at a safe speed Filtering has been discussed quite a lot over here as quite a few people are not entirely sure what the law is. However, as I understand it for NZ filtering for bikes is allowed to the maximum speed of 50kph (if the traffic flow is slower than that) and you must not be in excess of 20kph of the traffic flow (so to filter the traffic flow must be at 30kph or slower). I know that's pretty useless info as you are on the other side of the world...but somebody might be interested. ![]() |

For what it's worth, in case you have forgotten - drivers/riders are always taught not to drive/ride close to parked vehicles due to the possibility of a door opening. As has been proven, this is likely to happen anywhere. ![]() ![]() ![]() |

![]() and as you dont ride the road I dont think youre in any position to comment about what is safe and not compared to those of us that have commented who do. Oh and the first post said BETWEEN 20 and 30mph and in that traffic I would suggest it wouldve been nearer 20. And not the fastest Ive seen bikes go through it either. |
