I think I can be forgiven for believing you were one of our "brothers across the pond" given your location information and my skills as a diviner only encompass water and buried walls.

You really do seem to be deliberately seeking insult where none is intended.

Why is that I wonder? No matter!

In the interest of the peace of this place I offer my sincerest apologies for any actual or perceived offence.

OK. I will tell you where I am coming from here.

You joined, and posted up a message.
The first three people to reply all said exactly the same thing. Lose the big red font. We sort of had a bit of a laugh about it, and I made some comment saying that our jokes were weak/cheesey.

You took offense at this "patronising glee". In your second post you started using words like japcrap, wannabe Oscar Wilde's spouting patronising crap and taking lumps out of one another, and how we have done little to encourage your faith in us having thrown yourself upon the forums' mercy or whatever. I felt that this was unnecessary.

Now, this forum is made up of really sound people. You have people that can dis-assemble an SV in their head. You have people who will bend over backwards to help you, and all of them are patiently creating a huge resource in their free time.

So, the forum owes *nothing* to proles like us. We owe the forum. We owe the Johns, the SidSquids, the Cloggseys etc etc etc.

And, then the third message was going on about me climbing down off my high horse to meet you in ether , cowboy shirts, shared mother tongues and I should go for a long drives. You are absolutely correct about the Internet having no tone. And, this causes problems. But, yeah, this irritated me.

So, yeah, I mean, so It goes. Screw it. Probably if we had met over a pint we would be mates.

Welcome to the forum.

Will do big fella!

Trampie......

.........how about partly impressing hubby via the advice of an "Oscar Wilde" and try this out. I seem to remember reading, that as one of our fine fellows suggested - change to a naked top yoke and drop on a set of straight bars. In this case however, those from a TRIUMPH Speed Triple, which apparently fit well without problems concerning the fairing. I do believe however that a slight trim at each end is required to allow use of the standard cables etc.

Hope this helps, and for what it's worth, a few of you really did seem to be climbing onto those Persil cartons of marble. (There's the Oscar Wilde bit !!!)

If you really want to go the risers route, SVRider.com (the US based site) has an ad for "convertibars" which look very nice from a flexibility point of view. You'd be able to get those sent over I'm sure. Check here...http://www.convertibars.com/

Cheers & welcome,
Garry

So what is a 3%er? Is it secret or summit? Can you join or are you born that way?

emm, dont want to get banned here, but a 3%'er is someone who is in a bike club that is composed of former/recovering substance abusers.
Too many of my and my mates family members have drunk themselves to death, and a stupid number of poeple I was in school with have ended up badly strung out. I suppose that's Dublin for you.

So. Anyone that can get themselves straight has my respect, FWIW.

(Not actually sure what the significance of the proportion 3% is though... )
