I couldn't afford an employee on the sick for that length of time. It would bankrupt me. I'd fire and face the consequences.
I think your colleague is taking the **** and needs to take a reality check as to whether he wants a job or not. It's pretty dismal to start whining cos the generous sick pay disappears and he has to put up with SSP. He shoud be so lucky. Whilst I love being self-employed and wouldn't want to change, I don't get sick pay at all, and nobody bails me out if I don't feel up to coming to work. |

you can't be working that hard if you have spent the best part of an hour posting this
![]() edit: in fact looking at your posts today, you have spent pretty much all day on here (rough average 17ish minutes between posts) you sound a bit over dramatic ![]() |

Had a similar thing to Fizz, They changed some stuff in the IT depts contracts a while back, basically we're working for a euro support group now and not the uk operating company... I never signed but have since been told i'm under that contract now anyway.......
![]() If he did resign he certainly wouldn't be able to sign on straight away |

In my, admittedly limited, experience, it's usually easier to get a job than get any money out of the dole.
