trouble is if you believe everything you read on the net we would all be riding 130bhp R6's, SV650 with a 170mph top end and all riding like rossi

I shall tell the guy that weighed them that his scales are obviously out!.

Now someone please explain to me why they clatter at tickover...you see i have spoken to 2 very very experienced engine tuners who have also been involved in tuning the SV amongst other bikes including those run at BSB- although havent spent too much time on the net talking about it. They just cant understand why they would slap, clatter or whatever.

A technical reply would be good so i can print it off and show them. You never know they might learn something here!

It's been backed up by a couple of other places, including another tuner that hates him Plus Holeshot UK. Is it possible you did your weights with just the pistons?

I'll be glad when I get my insurance payout, then I can start thinking about this for my other SV. I Think I'd love a SV700 or 750 kit, not bothered about wear as it would just be a show off bike. The other SV's for comuting, though I think even that will need a 'few' tune ups.

Absolutely... The guy at YPE who occasionally deals with the stuff I can't do has a sort of catchphrase, he just shrugs and says "well, whatever works". But then, he also says "If it ain't ****ed, **** it."

Default clatter

It's in the overall piston design, just get a stock sv650 piston side by side with a ck114 piston and all will be shown to you, if you know what you are looking at.
A clue would be ring design to start with?

Just fit a set of flatslides and you'll never hear the 'slap' again

Thats a bit harsh, But true
Was nearly a racing incident I suppose

Its sad really, but i'll probably need a clutch soon, can't help myself slipping it in the paddock making the carbs 'chatter'
