My personal opinion is that he should be castrated with a spoon. And then beaten to a bloody pulp, but not killed. Death is far too good for this special kind of scum.

Dont know the specifics about this case.

But people who generally want to, and do have sex with, children, are mentally sick - they arent "normal" like us people - therefore, to say they should be executed is just stupid. They should be given medical treatment, to try and understand why they feel that way, and then perhaps it can be addressed in the future to prevent more adults wanting to do it.

Surely understanding and prevention is better than retailiating to their crimes - after all, for us to punish them, it means that a kid has had to endure that ordeal. Is that really acceptable? Would it not be better to be able to understand what makes them feel that way and then treat them before they have time to attack?

Well of COURSE prevention is better than cure...BUT: society doesn't know these people are paedophiles until AFTER the event, for a whole variety of reasons. So, to say you can prevent it is a bit far-fetched. It assumes that we ask all men (and it is primarily, but not exclusively, men) at an early stage in their lives: "do you fancy having it away with kids?" It assumes that a proportion will say "Ooh yes! Treat me! Quick!"

And if you think that is likely, you believe that Santa Claus is married to the Tooth Faerie and is bringing up the Loch Ness Monster's orphaned cubs in a Shoe Box purchased from Mother Hubbard.

Sorry GYKD but I really don't think these people can be treated!!

What would posses a person to do something like that? How can you justify it by trying to find out why?

Please don't take offence but some homophobics (not I) would say that gay people need treating. I disagree. You are what you are.

The point I am trying to make is that no amount of "finding out" and trying to cure these "monsters" is going to make any difference. If we had tougher sentences then people would be deterred from commiting such inhumane acts.

How can we accept that raping and photographing a 3 month old BABY justifies a 3 years sentence?!?!!

Absolute lunacy!!!

The punishments in this country ARE TOO leaniant. These idiots who go around slapping people for fun need an example to be made of them, the justice system had the perfect opportunity to do just this! They let it go! MUPPETS!

These kids/youths are lawless and KNOW that they can get away with doing whatever they bloody well like! Mainly because the Police are either TOO scarred to tackle them or are sick of making arrests, going to court only to have the CPS throw it out or witnesses don't show,(scarred themselves of repercution due to poor policing or lack of police presence) and so 'they' get away with nothing more than a slapped wrist!

When was the last time YOU saw a police officer 'walk the beat' around your neighbourhood!? Around here,NEVER!
If there was a proper police presence on the streets, then the visual impact SHOULD deter these little gits from hurting innocent people/damaging private property.

But NO,the police only want to tackle motorists as its an easy task, which also generates revenue for the Government.

A few months ago,we was woken up at 06.00 on a Sunday morning by four 'youths' trying to break into the cars in my street, whether they were intending to steal a car or contents from them, who knows.

My Dad went out to confront them, only to recieve threats that they would 'pour petrol through our letter-box,and torch the house',I went out to assist my Dad,only to receive threats myself, they then ripped a 'For Sale' board from a neighbours wall, went to hit me with it,didn't.one of the others went across the road, ripped a Paving slab from someones wall, and threw it at my Dad!

I could not believe what was happening in BROARD DAYLIGHT!
We ended up waking my neighbour(Police Officer)then followed them, they disapeared,by this time we were in contact with a Police car via radio, trying to catch them.
We ended up in a car-chase with them. They stole someones car!

My Dad identified them from the police database, and was told that these 'people' were particularly horrible, and that several police stations had outstanding Warrants for arrest on them.

What happened!??

NOTHING!

We need tougher sentences, more Police on the streets protecting innocent people from this scum!

By the way,I'm 27,just I always treat people with respect and how I'd like to be treated!

saldy these sort of scumbags are also the type to carry knives and think nothing of using them. I'm glad you guys walked away from that ****.

But i agree that on the whole there is a huge problem with this type of "ferral youth" as a minister once called them.. And thats why it made me laugh the other night, flicking tv channels and i hear on newsnight ".... over all, crime is down including street robberies blah bla blah more govt sponsored statistical lies blah blah blah cos we take you all for fools blah blah blah...."

but it seems like politicians are tied up in their own lies about being PC too much of the time to take note of reality. Cos reality sucks sometimes and its easier for them to look at the cameras and flashbulbs than the truth.

That's not "beating someone to death". That's doing something stupid, and having something extremely nlikely happen. I've no sympathy for the kid of course, but there was no intent to kill, or even likelihood that there'd be such a tragic outcome.
