One of the best bits of advice I was given was, if you don't want to spend an absolute fortune, buy a bike with a good quality frame, even if you have to sacrifice on the groupset. You can always buy a new groupset, or parts of later.

The thing is that Giant/Trek etc etc buy vast amounts of stuff from Shimano, meaning that the prices that the group sets are going to cost them are very very cheap compared to what we pay for them. And, then you hve to match out your group set to what you have at the moment. Just find out the max you can spend on a bike, scope around see what that buys you, go for it, ride the bike till it dies. |
