Yeah it was the fast group. There is no official seeding, they just let you out, you do tend to get little groups congregating together like that, I reckon that would happen even if you staggered them as the faster guys catch up/lap the slower ones and then have to get past. Passing people is what makes a trackday fun!!! If I end up getting too much ‘clean air’ with no one ahead in the distance to chase down, then I tend to slow up for a lap, let a few people past and then overtake them all again … my bad??

The club lap record for Cadders was set on a 250GP bike!!

Come along to the Full GP circuit on the 11th, the GP circuit is summin else

I would love to go...but unfortunately work gets in the way! Got my annual appraisal and everything (little do they know I will be handing in my notice though )

Just booked a trip to Japan, Oz, NZ and Hong Kong for 3 months!!!

With this in mind too, I think it will be next summer now before I get to do my first trackday.

Looking forward to seeing your videos from Silverstone though!

Thanks for info about the camera too

I'm booked in at Silverstone full GP on October 3rd. Rather excited about this - watched a lot of motorsport at Silverstone, now I get to ride the circuit! I know people say the GP circuits aren't suited to the SV, but to be honest, I doesn't matter to me how quickly I can go down a straight compared to a ss600 or 1000, I'll still get a lot out of the day. Just praying for dry weather.

Awesome riding that man. Looks to me like you could have done serious carnage on a faster top end bike (would love to see what you could do on that R1).

Would love to do a track day but don't fancy taking my only means of transports and thrashing the **** off it....oh I do that enough on the road. Will certainly look to getting some track time next year. Need a track bike first!

Well done!

Dan

Taking the ‘I can’t risk binning it, I gotta ride it tomorrow/home’ factor out of a trackday enhances the enjoyment immensely!!! Also if you have a trackbike with a spare set of wheels with 'wets' on (WoW) then it takes the fear of a wet one out too.

You can buy trackbikes for about a grand these days. There are several steelframe CBR600 x-race/trackbike packages on eBay at the mo for this sort of money!!

This looks like it might be a good deal too:- http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/YAMAHA-THUNDER...QQcmdZViewItem

You basically want something with 'sorted' suspension, brakes and suspension overall are more important than HP.

Or .... Focused hire out x-R6cup bikes for £195 a day. To be honest especially when you take into account tyre wear and fuel, that is a bargain!!!

I was hoping to get myself a 400cc track bike (zxr400) to begin with. I spoke to a few racers who said that most people rush out and get on a 600 before really knowing how to handle the bike on track. I ride pretty well on the road but the track is a different kettle of ballgames I'm sure. We'll see what happens next year. I am also plannng on getting another ZX7R which I might take on the track for a session or two but won't be going mad, want to really walk before I bin it!

Although a giggle on the road, a 400 as a trackday bike would suck*!!! When everyone else has a 600 or thou you will only get frustrated on a 400!!! Unless you know lots of others that have a 400 and they would go with you too obviously.

If you are used to a 7R, I really can’t see a problem with running a 600 trackbike.

*Note: 400cc racers are up against other 400s therefore a different thing altogether and again they would be cool against similar kit. This is not me saying 400s are carp or anything!! They are just lacking against a track full of 600s and thous!!
