I think I'd better come to this, seen as how I've skived out of all the others

Yup, seems a cunning plan. Black rider and El saxo, howz about meeting and riding up convoy style?

Sounds good to me!

In fact, I never noticed you were in Wigan, probably could have met up with you a long time ago for a rideout!

It was the "all abilities catered for" that got me. So if its ok I would love to come
Not been on a big ride out before but have read the rules on various sites
Will keep my eye on the thread for the route etc and hopefully make arrangements nearer time to meet up en route
Lookin forward to it

Plenty of good advice in Jelster's post here for first-timers, but there are no hard & fast rules as such.

Just ride how you feel comfortable and try to be courteous to other road users etc.

The only other thing that I've heard said on rideouts that isn't mentioned above is that if we're in a big group we attract a lot of attention so try & make sure we're not doing anything to wind up the anti-biking brigade as we pass through villages / towns etc.

I was worried about being slow the first few times I went out with large groups, but there's nothing to worry about because there's always plenty of breaks for people to catch up & regroup if the pack has stretched out & separated.

Most important of all, enjoy the ride & the company!
