Yeah, but they did the job differently. Zakk Wylde wasn't a Randy Rhoads replacement, but Edd the Duck was a Gordon the Gopher replacement, see?

Godon the Gopher owns Ed the Duck.

Fact.

I sort of lost touch with Metallica after the Justice album. I've recently picked up a couple of albums, including St Anger, but they don't impress me. As far as I'm concerned Rde the Lightening was their best work. It represented a big step forward from Kill, but still had that raw, original edge.

As for favourite tracks? So many to choose from, but I'd narrow it down to these four.

Whiplash
Ride the Lightening
Trapped Under Ice
Welcome Home (Sanitarium)

Hehe remember when they had some little white scotty dog that was staring and growling at Gordon and he was shaking! So cute!

I haven't seen Monster yet, but it is on my list of things to watch.

Jason Newstead is an awesome player live with a massive stage presence - one of hte biggest influences in my own playing. One of the only players I know of that could replace JN was Robert Trujillo.

Trujillo's work with Suicidal Tendancies, Infectious Grooves, and live stuff with Ozzy and Black Label Society is brilliant.

I think Newstead got out / got sacked at the right time. Trujillo should have stayed with Ozzy though. Newstead should have stayed away from Rockstar - Supernova too.

However, as far as the Justice album goes - it may have some good tracks, but its production is absolutely soul destroying. Where is the bass? Newstead got seriously stomped on when that was mixed. Being a bass player, its depressing to hear it.

St Anger - hmmmm. Rubbish songs, rubbish production, no solos. Still waiting for Lars to return my bin lid he used to replace his snare. Git.
