If your to close behind a high vehicle to read obvious road signs then it's still your fault. It's basic driving skills.

The cars in the video were trying to push thier luck, That 4x4 accelerated like mad to try and get past. I hope it cost them a few grand to fix and that he got some sort of penaulty as well. I also hope the kids in the back were OK as he hit that post with a fair whack.

I think the damage to the merc was significant, the cross members, tie rods, sump, gearbox, mountings, prop shaft are probably all trashed as well as loads of three figure fiddly bits. Both Airbags went off so new dash and steering wheel there. I wonder if his insurance covered deliberate ramming? They looked to be in a fair amount of pain too

Retard, I mean really, are these people terminally thick or what?

I mean at least the others were closer, what was he thinking was going to happen from that far back?

If you were going to attempt it, wouldn't you at least watch a few times to work out how they worked and how fast they move? Then write it off because you know you wouldn't make it?

I hope they get points on their license, obviously their judgment isn't that great?

I know of an incident where a police car on a call was catapulted by one of these things causing significant injury to one of the occupants. It was on one of those access roads to a motorway service area and the bollards have since been removed.I think they are dangerous out of all proportion to their purpose. The passenger in the van could have broken his neck,so stupidity or not they are not safe. It's odd in our risk averse society where police can't chase car thieves that this sort of injury is somehow ok.

If you do something stupid and come a cropper then it's TOUGH luck and you face the consequences your actions. Nobody seems to accept that stupid behavior generates damage and injury and they always try and blame somebody else.

A local chav nicked a pizza moped and crashed it within minutes causing very serious injuries. He had never ridden any powered two wheeler in his short pathetic life but he and his parent still managed to sue the pizza firm because he should not have been able to nick it so easy and the brakes were apparently not perfect. This is cr*p. he is a thief and should have been made to pay for a new moped and for all the pizza that was destroyed with the bike.

You are responsible for your own actions and if your own actions because of ignorance or stupidity cause damage or injury then take it like a man and don't try and blame everybody else.

I suppose I am Lucky the the joyriders who did a hit and run on me have not sued me for writing off their stolen car with my SV. I would sue them for my permanent disablement but there is the small fact that I was the legal law abiding insured innocent who happened to get in the way of their joyride so I have no chance.

If I was doing a wheelie at 90 through a shopping center and killed a granny then I might have a chance of sueing the council for not putting a DO NOT do wheelies at 90 in case you kill a granny sign up.

Notice I wrote"The passenger"in the van could have broken his neck. What did he do that was stupid or deserving of being shoved through the windscreen?I'm saying that these bollards are simply out of proportion to the "crime"they are supposedly preventing, and are a potential source of injury to people for no real good reason.

The passenger is the responsibility of the driver. What ever passengers do, or what happens to them while you are in charge (driving) a vehicle is your responsibility. So if you put them at risk by attempting to drive over the bollards, then you have to suffer the circumstances.

If you don't think the driver is safe, or takes risks, you shouldn't get in the vehicle, that's a passengers responsibility. Either way, it's not the councils fault.
