There's definately red thous, I'm just not sure what years. Thing is though, the SV thou won't stand up to commuting any better than the various IL4 options. Get a BCBR600F (in red) and it'll last forever.
Ive seen the maroon ones but just not the post box red of the k5...might be wrong tho....

Why not? - salt corrosion? or mechanical wear?

It doesn't come in red - who cares?

Before you splash the cash I think you need to decide what you want from the bike in the first place, whether it's a twin or not, top speed/power/whatever. Get a few test rides and ask a lot of questions. Don't get a Yam if you want to ride it through the winter, that's my one bit of advice!

Not that they won't last- it was in response to this from Ward "Useful stuff, buying an R6 did cross my mind as with the gixxer however my commute would kill them both before long...." CBR's better built though, which is a definate advantage if it's going to have a hard life.

So an SV 1000 would take a hard commute better than a 650, but just not as well as a CBR F?

About as well as a 650, really. Bit better, the build quality seems slightly better. But the CBF's better again.
