.

As for the 120/70 , if someone were to ask me I'll say stick to the 120/60 unless you have specific issues you wanting to address JMO.

The is a thread some where were it was discussed at length I seem to remember.

Cheers
Ben

Depends, it used to be possible to say such things, it certainly isn't so any more. Since the bigger-is-better obsession with tyres many quoted tyre sizes can realistically be considered as part numbers, some makers habitually overquote sizes. There's no shortage of 160 section tyres that are fine on SV rims and not pinched at all, most, not all, 170 and 180 tyres are as near as makes no difference and fit both 5.5" and 6" rims.

All the same, an SV on standard wheels most certainly should not be wearing a 180 section tyre, that would require a 5.5" or 6" rim.

If an SV650 has a flat tyre in the forest and no-one is there to blow it up, how long will it be 'til someone posts that the reg/rec is duff and the world will end unless a CBR unit is fitted? A little bit of knowledge = a dangerous thing.

I'd say go for the /70, just because it's worth trying

What do you expect to achieve with a 70 section?

Main reason is it means I don't run out of tyre on a track day. Since I havn't noticed any advantage to having a /60 tyre, I'll always go with the /70.
