Hovis im not in any way having a go at you here but id say a £30 fine was lucky. If a cop had seen it, you'd be looking at double that and 3 points. Sorry pal but no excuses

Don't think yourself lucky for only getting £30 fine.
Think the retired old dear lucky, who has partial sighting and dodgy hearing. Stopping at the crossing to cross the road as safely as she can. Then, just as she has taken a couple of steps onto the crossing some bloke who is running late and not paying full attention to the road wipes her out as he didn't see her in time because what little attention he was paying was hampered by your vehicle blocking a clear view o the crossing.
Sorry Hovi5 but it's my opinion that if you are parking on zig zags at a crossing you are putting others lives at risk. Being there for only a couple of minutes is no excuse either. It takes seconds to knock somebody over.
With regards to blocking a driveway, as far as I can remember, as far as there is no vehicle in the driveway then it's OK to park there. Its an offence to block a vehicle in a driveway but not to block access to the driveway.

I'm pretty sure you can't block a driveway with a dropped curb, doesn't matter if there is a car in the drive or not.

Had Plod round at our house last night (unrelated matter to parking), they never battered an eyelid, even when i purposefully told them that I park the bike outside on the zigzags.

But then, they were local coppers who knew the village very well, and they've probably driven past both my bike & car parked on the zigzags about a gazillion times.

Sorry Hovi5 :P
