no difference if you ask me, but you will prob find it is just the fact that the sv throttle is less sensitive, i rode my mates GSXR600 tho other day and i almost did the same as it sounds like you did, i cant remember what the ST has for en engine, i think it is a IL4 not a twin, i can only assume that that makes a difference, also i can only talk from my experience with my curvy, but i doubt it is anything to do with your restriction.

33bhp to almost70-tis a fair jump,i used to own a unrestricted curvey (about 70bhp)and am now riding a 2000cbr6oofy (think its 98bhp)and jesuus h crist its quick.know what u mean about acceleration .nearly 100bhp is enough for me just now ,if this is 'only'100 i honestly think 150(fireblade ,r1 etc)would really b frightening ,iv gave myself a few 'moments' on the bike iv got now catching me unaware how fast it can be.when i got it i thought '100bhp-pah-easy'now its kinda earned a bit of respect from me,seen 150 on the clock and it was still pulling very strongly ,i backed off cos the bike is ok at those speeds ,as for me ,,,,,hmmmm.enjoy what youve got ,,i know the feeling

I am paying about half that in the US and we don't have the dumb 33hp restriction if you want you could go buy a turbo busa the day you get your licenses you might not be able to get insurance but it is legal. The govt shouldnt have the right to limit your bike

To be fair you could jump onto a turbo'd busa after passing your test here but there would be no point because you would still need to restrict it to 33bhp, and some hop i think that would be a little pointless!!

to be honist there is pros and cons for it really, i am sure it has prevented some accedents, but at the same time i think it prob has caused some, i have been in a couple of tight spots in the past and if i had have had more power i could have got my self to saftey quicker IMO!

i wish i didn't have to go throu it, but i'm past it now, and to be fair it prob has made me a better rider, i am able to keep up with most people on a large variety of bikes when i was restricted, on corners that is, as soon as power is needed i dont move, it did help me to take the corners in the right way to carry the most speed, but boy oh boy i'm glad its over!!!!

as for what you said about how you dont think the government have the right to do that, they are trying to restrict new riders even more, if the bill goes through i think it is going to be 17 for a 125, 19 for up to 33bhp, and then 21 for anything you want, or something like that, but then again this ionformation was given to me by a mate who gets most of his information from MCN so who knows if it is actually going to happen!!!!

oh and dont forget thoes stupid power resrtictors they want to use to provent you from being able to speed!!! now that is the biggest load of cr@p ever,

I am currently riding a restricted bike and pick up my restricted SV on the 1st March. I really don't understand all this fuss about restricted bikes, if you want to keep a clean license you have more than enough power.

If you want to stay in one piece get some advanced training and then the chances are that you will see the problem developing or anticipate it so you don't need that extra power to get you out of trouble. I have just spent several months getting thru the IAM test and can highly recommend it.
