Number plate size is governed by font type,size and spacing also must have the makers name and conform to the reflective standards set down by law
The external dimensions are not stated in any law so if you have a personalised plate with less digits you can have a smaller plate providing the former criteria are met. If not take your chances on being nicked

my 7 x 5 has near the correct size lettering, theres no room around the edges for slogans ect.

i have gone 8x6 for mine, with 2"letters/numbers, not wee taking size but you can tell its smaller

i have 5x7½ but am thinking of getting a 9x3 or somthing the same shape.
are all the thin type iligal? & has anyone a piccy of one on a curvy, i like the look of them on pointys but not sure about a curvy?

i have 8 x 6, looks gr8. any lettering that isn't standard is illegal as far as i'm aware (if that's wot ur on about), but i stand to be corrected!!

I got 6x4½ on mine, had a police car behind me in traffic once and never got pulled .. doesn't mean the next one won't though. Leaves the rear nice and exposed.
