God help me, given my history with Martin on this forum in the past, I cant believe Im going to do this.

If you want trolling, go to visordown. Im sure you'll last 2 seconds with the professional trolls on there. Trolling there is an art form where you have someone who in every biker down thread starts on people for replying. Thats deliberate and he knows full well the response he will get because he does the same thing every single time.

Martin, is not in the same league and while you perceive it as trolling trust me, he aint that bad.

Do not confuse trolling with someone who is blunt, tactless, undiplomatic, harsh and to the point with their posts . Thats simply a posting style that you react negatively to. Imo all Martin has done is display a lack of empathy and sensitivity but has the right to express his opinion like everyone else.

God help us all if we are to be banned for our failings as human beings and come across the wrong way on a forum its so easy to be taken the wrong way too.

If your suggestion to make it that easy is all it takes, this forum would be very empty as a fair few people have in the past come across the wrong way. God knows I have upset people on here and that was the furthest thing from my intent. Yet I am here and constructively helping people with their VAT/imports and trying to be more tactful

Its easy to do in a format where you cant soften your words entirely with facial expressions and modulate voice tone. Smilies help but not always - when I post a on visordown, people associate that with sarcasm at times.

Given that, intent and whether its deliberate does actually become quite important, not a case of it perception takes precedence. Because your perception once formed is going to influence how you react in the future. I bet in future you will react negatively to all his posts which isnt really fair if theyre not deliberate trolling posts. How would you feel every time you posted I jumped down your throat because of a negative perception I could form of you from this thread? You wouldnt like it, and it wouldnt be fair.

So people, can we quit with the witch hunt? Put the pitchforks down please because it doesnt reflect well on you either. None of us are perfect and this isnt a perfect medium for communication. And perceptions previously formed influence here and make you see things less objectively. Is it really trolling? or simply lack of empathy/sympathy? or simply a blunt and harsh posting style? Think a little before lighting that stake eh?

And be careful about what you wish for. For making it so easy to be banned for how youre perceived. Because one day you may just type something in without thinking, without empathy because youre in a bad mood and upset someone and thats pretty much what youre suggesting is what it needs.

Full marks to the mods for doing a hard job and Sid for a good call.

Damn I need a lie down for that

Regardless of trolling or not, and I think your right by the way, any one person that can upset that amount of people and to do it in many different threads is not condusive to a nice warm and friendly forum that we all enjoy. The reason that so many people stay here after the SV is long gone is because of this friendliness and respect for other peoples thoughts.

So for that reason alone I will be more than happy to delete threads left right and center if I think they are causing bad carma in the forum. This is regardless of who the poster is and how long they have been on the forum. I have done so in the past and shall do so in the future.

Can we please now drop the topic and get back to how it should be?

Lyn, this is not all directed at you.

I've just picked up on what you have said and carried on. Bad editing I guess but then I'm a thicko.
