Oh indeedilydoodily, I was just trying to shed some light on the OP's confusion as to why someone would restrict an SV.

ok , i have kinda got the same problem, got me bike on friday and when i asked the dealer 4 the original ecu he said it wasnt the ecu they replaced, so thinkin they were tryin to scam me, i had a look at the ecu and it is the de-restricted on ( has 060 on it) , ne way, lookin at my restriction certificate it says the restriction device is a inlet blade and throttle stop , just wonderin where is it and how to remove it,

p.s. i aint de-restrictin it (its fast enough) but want to kno when the time comes

Not entirely sure on how to but i would recomend (providing you have full unrestricted license) de-restricting it as its not that fast unrestricted so cant imagine it being great restricted. Ive found myself getting anoyed at the lack of power at times, probably because i spend alot of my time riding with people who own supersports. Can keep up on the bends but straights they disapear.

Try getting some training then.
My IAM instructor said he needed at least 2-3 seconds warning of my overtakes in order to keep with me on his 1200. Oh and being a Police instructor he did always have that warning.

They were infront anyway so the hit the straight just before me and a 636, R1 and mille will disapear alot quicker than i can. was red lining nearly every gear to try and keep up. Well not quite reline but about 9-10k revs untill 5/6th then pretty much red-line.

Restricted SV's dont really like being redlined, least mine dosnt. Infact, I'd say its pretty pointless going over 8k...
