That's news to me!

I'll have to get me thinking cap on then & pull something out of the bag. At the moment, I don't have any route in mind.

Rossi_C, I assume I'm still meeting up with you. Still need to arrange where. Luckypants may be attending by car (means I can offload some of my gear - not that he knows it yet), so he might be travelling seperate to us.

I'll get my act together & get a route up sorted in the next few days, then anyone that likes can tag along with us, or us with them etc.

Ooops, sorry Baph. I thought the proposed route (some time ago, I must admit) took us near / around the M6.

No worries fella, I did stick up a route, but I think you mean the M60, not the M6.

I can't remember what it was though, so I'll have another look over the next few days.

EDIT: Just had a quick peek this morning. I don't mind about motorways, and the easiest way that I can see to get there, is to go from me, A55, M56, M60, M65 to J13, then on the A682 (looks like a nice twisty road) which then turns into the A65 dropping us at the campsite.

There's other possibilities in my mind, like A49 from Warrington up to A671 passing the North side of Burnley, then picking up the A682 a little further north than the M65. It's all two sticks & trees though to me. I don't mind the route at all. Rossi, you pick, and program your Satnav accordingly

And now an offer of a meet with some of the Manchester crew!
I do take your point, it's a v. long way up there and the fast roads which you've chosen should get us there before dark and with minimum amount of faffing around losing people. And it's great to have your enthusiasm and efforts er the route generation So I'll shut up now...

...well not quite yet - I'd also suggest that we don't arrange to meet up with other groups en route since timings are difficult to predict when travelling en masse...OK that's it from me...

+1 on that point.

I don't really fancy the idea of hanging about at random points along the way wondering where people are. If this was travelling by car, it wouldn't be an issue, passenger uses mobile phone etc. By bike, it's a different matter.

Far as I'm planning, I'll meet up with Rossi_C on my way, and we'll see everyone else at the campsite, unless we stumble upon folks enroute.

Time to sort out my route I reckon... EDIT: My initial "ride-up" plans are done

+2.

We're already gonna be spending a weekend hanging around with wierd folk from outside the M25.

The less time we spend with them the better...

If you are going up the A1 then I woulkd very much like to tag along by joining up with you all just before it becomes the A1(M) at the Brampton Hut services where the A14 crosses the A1.

Here is a link to where I mean...

Of course if you are going a different way I will have to think of something else!

I'm not 100% sure from the map whether we're passing there, but if so you're welcome to tag along. Just be aware that you may have to wait quite a while - as mentioned above it's really tricky to predict arrival times for group rides since they inevitably end up leaving late, stopping at every fuel station for petrol/someone needing a pee and losing a few people along the way!

Last year we were about an hour late to meet Toady and that was just outside the M25...nothing to do with my organisation mind...but anyway you may want to pick a meet point with coffee & a shelter (not that it's going to rain at all over the AR weekend of course!)

I fully appreciate what you are saying - I am just trying to avoid the whole journey on my own! I think jayjay is going from Stevenage way, may try and hook up with him... I can see whats going to happen though!

Dude, just spent 15 minutes searching for the other bloke from round your way who said he wanted to meet up to find out it's you on another thread... D'Oh!

If you fancy it, I can offer couch space the night before, I live a 10 minute ride from the Ace, so pretty convenient...
