BMW 330D or 330i? I am thinking of a 330d Touring for pace with some grace (will be a few years old mind!). VW Tuareg W10 (or is it W12?) disesel has enough torque to ripple the tarmac!
Pedant mode alert. No such car as an Octavia VRs diesel. The Octavia VRs is a 2.0 petrol. However, the Fabia VRs is a 1.9 tdi and that really flys in gear.

My wife has a SEAT Altea 1.9tdi (basically a VW like Audi and Skoda!)
Really pleased with it.

Try a 6 cylinder BMW diesel, you will be pleasantly suprised. Audi's V6 TDi sounds pretty good too. The sonic qualities of the exhaust note are closely related to cylinder layout, not fuel type.

Ah, so they now do the Octavia VRs as a diesel bit of a cheat to call it that though, My brother in law has the Passat tdi 170 and whilst quick, it is not quite the rocket that the 2.0 turbo vrs is.
Very interesting to know that though, could be a future consideration.

I want a diesel hybrid that runs on the whiff of a rag used to wipe an oily smear from a garage floor.

My mate's dad had got one of the new Range Rover sport diesels with a V-8, it even makes the V8 noise and is pretty quick, I think it's something like 270 hp.

As for diesels in bikes, I think one of the issues is the weight of the block as it tends (has?) to be steel/iron, which could result in a heavy bike.

u wanna talk about diesel consumption on boats?

how about 100ltrs per hour on a 40ft with 2 caterpillar engines in it?

diesel consumption on boats can't really be compared with the cars as they are a tad bit heavier.......a few tones really not much more

I have a Seat Leon FR Tdi 150bhp, and i love it......build quality of a VW, loads of power and still get 50mpg+ even the way i drive it

I too would never have a petrol car again.

oo dear, you leave the forum for 24hrs and it all goes a bit mad...

i knew someone would bring up the le mans argument - and the diesel audi is a stunning piece of engineering, however the amount of money they've put into the project just doesn't work for a road car where budget constraints affect the end price, who would buy an £800k diesel ferrari when you can have a petrol version that costs £150k?

if diesel truly was the way for performance cars *right now* there'd be diesel porches, lamborghinis and ferraris in the showrooms, as it stands, there aint
