There is a memorable video of a bike doing a TT (big black bike cresting a hill initiating slapper) … now that IS a brown trouser slapper!!!! ![]() I am sure if I could be bothered to look it’d be on youtube, but many of you will have seen it before and know the one I am on about!! ![]() |

My curvy gave me a real good head shake one day, my fault, being to eager on the gas and I run across the solid lines of a chevron from a slip road, accelerating hard....
Bars went from one side to the other quite violently. I can't remember how I recovered it but it scared the life out of me at the time.... The 'Blade gives me a good shake whenever the head gets light and starts to lift, even on a straight road. That's how I know if I've actually done that wheelie.... Lots of gas, head shaking, 1, 2, 3 yes that's up...... ![]() . |

head shakes of protest on the 1000 but no real problems with slappers, maybe a diff story without the damper fitted?

Yep, I've had a proper tankslapper. Only one mind. 'Proper' as in bars bang violently (and repeatedly) from full lock to full lock (denting the alumimium frame's lock stops on either side in the process). That was when my front wheel hit a deer at 60mph.
I've had lots of incidences of the bars waggling a bit: front wheel going light/airborne when nailing it over humpback bridges, when giving it some over bumpy ground on stock suspension, etc. Bars waggling, however, are not tankslappers. Once you've had a proper tankslapper, you stop refering to this sort of "bar wagging" as a tankslapper. ![]() Last edited by Ceri JC; 13-06-07 at 04:14 PM. Reason: left a detail out |
